EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO REMOVE SPOTS FROM YOUR SKIN

What are skin spots and how do they occur?

When we think about spots on our face, it's not surprising that many of us already have one or two in mind that we'd rather disappear. It's no coincidence: spots are one of the main aesthetic concerns for women, and recent studies show that nearly 60% of women look for specific products to treat them. Why? Because these spots are not only common, but they can also make us feel insecure over time. But what are skin spots really and how do they form? In simple terms, a dark spot is a buildup of melanin, the pigment that gives color to the skin, eyes, and hair. This buildup occurs when melanin concentrates in certain areas, making them appear darker. The process begins with melanocytes, cells in the deep layer of the epidermis that make melanin to protect us from damage such as sunlight. However, certain factors can overstimulate these melanocytes, generating unwanted dark spots.

How are spots formed?

The process is called melanogenesis and happens like this:
  1. Melanocytes in action : These cells begin to produce melanin to defend us from sun damage.
  2. Overstimulation : When melanocytes receive intense signals, such as sun exposure, they increase melanin production.
  3. Pigment accumulation : If stimulation is frequent, melanin accumulates in certain areas.
  4. Visible spots : Eventually, this melanin rises to the surface of the skin, creating the spots.

Knowing how they form is the first step to understanding how to effectively prevent and treat dark spots. But what are the factors that trigger this uncontrolled production of pigment?

What are the triggers for spots?

  1. Sun exposure : It is the greatest activator of melanocytes. UV rays stimulate these cells, and although this response protects our skin, constant exposure without protection leads to pigment accumulation.
  2. Hormonal changes : Events such as pregnancy, menopause or the use of contraceptives sensitize melanocytes. This can lead to melasma, hormonal spots that are often difficult to remove.
  3. Inflammation or skin injury : Have you ever noticed dark spots after an injury or acne? Areas affected by inflammation can trigger an overproduction of melanin.
  4. Aging : As we age, our skin loses its ability to renew cells, and age spots become more visible.

Is it important to combat dark spots with nutricosmetics?

“To really get rid of dark spots, you have to treat them from the source and from within.” Dark spots don’t just affect the surface of the skin; their root is in uncontrolled melanocytes. Topical treatments only work on the outer layer, while nutricosmetics reach the deeper layers.

Depigmenting nutricosmetics act by regulating melanin production from within, achieving both preventive and corrective results. This means that an effective treatment combines nutricosmetics with topical cosmetics in an "In&out" routine.

How to include depigmenting products in our routine?

For even, spot-free skin, you need a treatment that attacks at all levels. While nutricosmetics target the deeper layers of the skin and the origin of the spot, topical products correct the visible appearance of spots. This dual approach boosts results, leaving your skin radiant and flawless.
